Prema is a family friendly Arts Centre, promoting performance, live music and art exhibitions as well as accessible workshops, classes and creative experiences for kids and adults.
Prema, near Dursley in the Stroud valleys, offers an affordable day out for all folk in the South West.
For those who like regular weekly sessions for participation and learning we have a host of weekly classes for both kids and adults.
Our weekly sessions run between Mondays and Thursdays and always follow the school half-terms.
Our winter/spring will stop for an inter-semester break between Monday 12th February and Thursday 15th February 2024. All classes resume on the week commencing Monday 19th February. Hurrah!

Nia integrates ancient wisdom and modern science with elements of dance, martial & healing arts to offer physical, mental and emotional conditioning, healing and transformation that is accessible and attainable for every body.
Nia believes in the power and potential of everybody, at any age or level of fitness and that ‘through movement we find health’.

Dancercise
On the day £8
Dance and stretch to great music - Charleston, pop and Latin rhythms, incorporating easy-to-follow dance routines over this 12-week course. Tricia Dunbar leads Dancercise; a sensational movement course which is perfect for all abilities and ideal for anyone looking to improve their general fitness and wellbeing while having heaps of fun along the way! Dancercise helps develop your flexibility, balance, coordination and general fitness levels as well as providing a welcome reduction to stress levels. Most importantly though, it is brilliant fun and definitely “the happy way to get fit!”
Bring along an exercise mat and dress code is all about comfy and non-restricting. Trainers or similar are suitable for the main movement session, though the mat work at the end can more enjoyable bare foot (optional). Also, please bring a water bottle – dancing can be a thirsty business!
£8 per session. Pay on the day.

Story to Pages: Picturebook Masterclass

Are you an aspiring author with a picture book idea that's been tucked away in your imagination? It's time to bring that dream to life with our 'Make Your Own Picture Book' class.
Led by accomplished picture book illustrator Jemma Jamie Skidmore this six-week course is your pathway to transforming your creative vision into a picture book, outline ready to send to publishers or share with the children you love. With Jemma's expertise, you'll explore every step of the process, from crafting compelling stories and characters to an introduction to the art of illustration. All skill levels are welcome, with a focus on drawing exploration. Materials will be provided, including a sketchbook to keep track of your thoughts and ideas.

Absolute Beginners' Painting

Our four-week painting course with inspiring artist Caroline Cattermull is ideal for total beginners, for those of you who have always wanted to explore painting or who haven’t done any since school. Alternatively, if you have previous experience but would like to refresh your painting skills, go back to basics and try out acrylics, this course is perfect.
Over the four weeks, we’ll be covering: paint mixing & colour; how to mix a myriad of colours using just the three primary colours; including some colour theory. We’ll explore composition – where to place your subject on the page or canvas and how to get started. We’ll be looking in detail at how to apply paint to the surface, mark-making techniques using a brush, palette knife etc.

Life Drawing through Watercolour

Join watercolour artist, Peter Garrard for a series of three life drawing classes but with the gentle added dimension of watercolour to really bring the work to life. Peter will show you the basics of measuring and proportion and then over the course gradually demonstrate increasingly complex wet-on-wet watercolour techniques, starting by using one colour and simple poses until finally using three colours and looking at foreshortening and other more demanding poses. All equipment and tools are provided.
Three week course, Wednesday evennings 17 April to 1 May.
