Amanda Gee grew up in Carmarthenshire, South Wales, in a traditional Welsh town.
Moving to Cardiff in the 1980’s she quickly became involved in the lively Cardiff Arts scene. With her own studio above the market, exhibiting at Chapter Arts Centre and Llanover Arts. Amanda was also a member of an acclaimed all women band the Tidy Girls.
Amanda moved to Bristol to study a degree in Fine Arts/ sculpture at Bower Ashton. Since completing her degree, she has worked extensively within the voluntary and education sector largely in Therapeutic and Community Arts in settings including colleges, women’s prison, children’s home and across festivals and community events.
Amanda has exhibited her own work locally in recent years including at Studio 18, in Stroud with the Nasty women group and in the Severn Vale Arts Trail
Currently Amanda is juggling a full-time job and is a Director of Wild Acres Community project in Breadstone where she has a studio and supports others there to develop their own creative language.
Her large, bold paintings are brimming with colour and energy, bringing a dazzling warmth and sense of playfulness and vibrancy to Prema for the colder months and darker days.
