Originally from Yorkshire, Chris Dye moved to Bristol in 1985 and having completed a Foundation Art Course in the city went on to study Graphic Design at Salisbury College of Art.
He has worked for design agencies in the Bristol area and became Creative Director in a large Bristol agency in 1997. Since 2007 he has run his own agency, Frank Brands, specialising mainly in packaging design for many national and international household names.
He began painting watercolours in 2016 and has developed a strong recognisable style. He likes to use watercolours in a bold, powerful, dynamic way to create impressionistic scenes with a distinctive focus on capturing the light and atmosphere of the subjects. The primary focus of his work is everyday urban and rural landscapes from the Bristol area with a few from travels over the years thrown in.
