Fused Glass Birds

Exhibiting glass artist Simon Alderson leads this afternoon's brilliant 3-hour taster session, welcoming you to the colourful and intoxicating world of fused glass. We're used his gorgeous glass birds as your inspiration for today's workshop - they're ideal to be used as sun-catchers, hanging in a window to project colour and ornothological cheer around the room. We think they'd also look the biz on the Christmas Tree or as part of your festive decs!

The session begins with a glass cutting demonstration, followed by a brief overview of glass fusing. You'll then cut out the shape of bird bodies from sheet glass and learn how to decorate using embellishments such as frit, stringers, pebbles and paints.

Will you opt for a realistic looking robin, blue tit or wren? Or are you more of a colour merchant, creating a fanciful bird with patterns and pizzazz?.

Throughout the afternoon, we reckon you'll complete 5-or-so bird hangings - ideal to keep all for yourself or great to pass on as presents this Christmas. All glass work is fired overnight and will be available for collection from Wednesday 20th October.

Please do not wear sandals/open toed shoes when attending this workshop. Safety first!

Places are limited so book now while there are spaces available!
