Bristol-based artist Simon Alderson is a designer/maker specialising in stained and fused glass. He creates bespoke, functional and decorative homeware as well as contemporary glass art pieces. Originating from the north-east, Simon gained his first experience of glass during an evening class at his local art centre in Darlington, inspiring a fascination with the material and techniques ever since! Shortly thereafter he was awarded a degree in glass and ceramics from Sunderland University, based at the amazing National Glass Centre. In his undergraduate years, surrounded by world-renowned tutors, artists and an access to first-class equipment cemented his passion for glass and equipped Simon with the technical knowledge and creative hunger to pursue it as a career. After graduation, Simon Alderson Glass was established as a means of continuing an exploration into the exciting and demanding liquid medium. He teaches regularly at the Creative Glass Guild in Bristol and works from his studio at the Artspace Lifespace at the Old Bridewell Police Station in the city. Look out for Simon’s glass workshops in our autumn season here at Prema.
