Summer Botanical Watercolours

Taking inspiration from seasonal summer flowers, botanical artist Karen Green guides you through observational drawing, pen work and watercolour techniques to create a finished illustration that reflects a botanical understanding of your subject and captures the beauty of the plant.
You’ll be gently eased into the workshop with some playful drawing exercises. Then we’ll move on to a whistlestop tour of botanical exploration through which we’ll create a detailed observational drawing, using pen work to show shadow through the ‘stippling’ technique. With individual support and group demonstrations, you’ll soon be expertly experimenting with watercolour techniques and imaginative colour mixing to paint your chosen flower, slowly building up layers of paint to create luminosity and depth.
All material provided and suitable for all abilities.
