ONLY A FEW LEFT

Keeping a sketchbook is an invaluable place to store, expand on and experiment with ideas, techniques and materials. They offer a safe space to make mistakes and let loose with mark making.
In this new series of three workshops each session will be led by a different artist, each using different materials, techniques and sharing how they tackle creative problems, work on ideas and use a sketchbook in their own day-to-day practice. This fantastic opportunity working directly with professional artists who will inform and guide you as you explore how a sketchbook can be used to record thoughts, dreams and ideas. (Keeping a sketchbook is also fantastic for interviews for college and university to show off who you are as an artist).

Sat 6 Oct   10-12pm
Kick off with illustrator, writer and animator Eve Coy. Eve’s sketchbook is a safe place which she uses to develop characters and their stories into books.  Explore how a sketchbook can be a space for small thoughts to evolve and grow big!

Sat 10 Nov   10-12pm
Work with wire artist Celia Smith at the second session. For Celia it all starts with a sketchbook; travelling, observing and drawing lines that will translate into three-dimensional wire sculptures. Explore how ideas travel through the sketchbook, how mark making moves into sculpture and back to paper again.

Sat 8 Dec  10-12pm
The final session is with Hannah Dyson, illustrator with collage extraordinaire. Her sketchbook could be a clipboard of paper or her studio walls and floor. Hannah’s is a playful and experimental practice that embraces accidents and discoveries.
