The original show was set up in Dublin by a group of musicians who wanted visitors to the city to experience what a real Irish house party is like. For the month of May, we’re heading down to the exquisite Gossington Hall (near Slimbridge) home to the Tatham family and the brilliant Cotswold Gardening School.
The site boasts some nine acres of glorious gardens to provide us with colourful, sculptural inspiration for our morning of strolling and sketching.
We’re keeping everything crossed for decent sketching weather but if there’s a deluge, owner and artist Caroline Tatham has offered us use of the hall’s classroom space as shelter for our drawing session.
Artist Rosie-Marie Marshall-Jane leads this morning’s session which allows you to work at your own pace with helpful support and warm encouragement.

A Day of Weaving

In today’s mixed media workshop led by glass artist Caroline Lambert, you will be using wire, copper and glass to learn a variety of great techniques. For June, we’re heading over to the glorious Stratford Park in Stroud to busy ourselves throughout the park, especially focusing on the arboretum and the impressive variety of tree specimens on site for drawing inspiration. For an additional drawing challenge we’ll head down to the lake, urging us to take a quite different approach to making our mark.

Our monthly sketching sessions are about experiment and exploration, making a mark and bringing along a can-do approach to drawing. As always, the ever-brilliant Rosie-Marie Marshall-Jane leads our morning’s session, allowing you to work at your own pace with generous support and gentle encouragement.
For July, we’re heading down to the comparative lowlands at Slimbridge. The village of Slimbridge meanders its way down towards the Severn estuary, crossing the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal on the way. This morning, we’ll be dismounting our horses at the bridge and wandering along the towpath, using the long stretches of waterway to help us explore perspective drawing as well as featuring the barges and boats we meet along the way.
