Don’t miss your place on our friendly and ever-popular ceramics class which allows you to get a firm grasp of the foundations of pottery whilst working at your own pace under the thoughtful and gentle guidance of ceramic artist Geg Fayle. Learn how to create vessels by “throwing” on the wheel and discover the limitless possibilities of hand-building while experimenting with a variety of surface decoration, exploring the many slips and glazes to make unique clay work. Don’t miss your chance to explore the seemingly limitless joy of working with ceramics on our weekly pottery class led by the hugely talented and ever-patient Geg Fayle.

Try out throwing (working on the wheel) as well as experimenting with a broad range of making techniques, exploring the various surface textures, slips and glazes to create some truly remarkable ceramic work. Geg’s Potting Shed is always friendly and relaxed, meaning you’ll be working at your own pace on a personal and distinctive ceramics project.

Charlie Dore with Julian Littman

Charlie Dore is an exemplary, multi award-winning singer & songwriter of worldwide renown. Tonight, she is joined on stage by the celebrated multi-instrumentalist Julian Littman (who you might know from his work with Steeleye Span).

Charlie’s songs have been recorded by the good and the great including George Harrison, Tina Turner, Celine Dion and Ricky Ross, but her live shows reveal that actually she invariably keeps the very best songs for herself.

Fishclaw

Fishclaw is a band of highly skilled musicians who have assembled from South Suffolk and North Essex, calling Colchester their home town. Each having previously worked in different genres from folk, rock, hip hop, jazz to blues and electronic music the combination of each member bringing their own approach and perspective to the mix to create a strikingly original sound.

From dark soundscapes to seriously hi-tempo tunes, Fishclaw creates music that, whilst folk at its core, isn't afraid to move into whatever realm the band chooses at any given moment.

Suntou Susso

Suntou Susso is a multi-instrumentalist: kora player, percussionist, singer and composer from The Gambia. Born a Griot in the 700-year old tradition of the kora - a harp-lute with 22 strings unique to the Mandinka people.

An in-demand and charismatic performer, he has garnererd much attention throughout from the moment he arrived on the UK's music scene.  Suntou joins us this evening for a solo show - a real and rare musical treat for all world music lovers.
